Rafael Junges is a Brazilian-Italian aeronautical engineer with a diverse educational background and experience. He is currently pursuing a PhD in mechanical engineering at Politecnico di Milano, focusing on the development of Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) frameworks based on Deep Neural Networks (DNN) for damage detection, localization and quantification. He has published articles on the use of unsupervised machine learning models such as Convolutional Autoencoders (CAEs), Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) and Conditional Generative Adversarial Networks (cGANs) for Ultrasonic Guided Wave (UGW) data processing and structural damage localization. Professionally, Rafael has worked as a mechanical designer in the aerospace industry.
