The PhD Programme in Mechanical Engineering is organised and carried out within the Politecnico di Milano Department of Mechanical Engineering. It covers a number of different disciplines, being devoted, in particular, to innovation and experimental activities. We train highly skilled profiles, qualified to meet academic and industrial most challenging demands: our graduates are prepared to embrace careers at the forefront of technology, responding to a call for innovation and top-level research efficiently.
The XXXVIII Cycle Additional Call is now closed – DEADLINE September 12th 2022, 2:00 p.m. (Italian time).

Further 28 scholarships funded with investments provided by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) are available, according to the following investment missions:
- n. 24 scholarships on research topics related to industrial innovation (M4C2, 3.3), partially co-funded by companies and research institutes
- n. 1 scholarship on research topics of interest for the Public Administration (M4C1, 4.1)
- n. 2 scholarships on research topics coherent with the PNRR
- n. 1 scholarships on research topics related to digital and enviromental transition (M4C1, 3.4)
The PhD positions referred above are partially funded by some of the main Italian and international companies and research institutes such as A2A, Ansaldo Energia, Brembo, BLM Group, Italferr, Pirelli Tyre, ST Microelectronics, ENI, Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, Baker Hughes, Comau, Hitachi Rail, Lucchini RS, Stellantis Group.
