Binbin Liu graduated in 2010 with the title of “outstanding graduate” from State Key Laboratory of Traction Power of Southwest Jiaotong University, China. Then he worked as a Research Fellow in the Research and Development center of China Academy of Railway Sciences. In 2015 he was invited as an academic visitor to the University of Salford, UK for 6 months. In 2016 he was awarded his PhD with distinction (cum laude) for his thesis ‘Study of rail vehicle dynamics and wheel-rail contact using full-scale roller rigs’ from the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Politecnico di Milano, Italy. From 2016 to 2017, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Politecnico di Milano. Since 2018, he is working in the same department as a junior Researcher. His research interests are mainly in the field of rail vehicle dynamics and wheel/rail contact. He has been involved in several research projects funded by the EC (DYNAFREIGHT, ROLL2RAIL, INNOWAG, RUN2RAIL). He has published many papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, and he is a reviewer of international journals.
