Francescantonio Lucà is a Research Associate (RTDa) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Politecnico di Milano since March 2023. He obtained his Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2016, with a thesis on signal processing for structural health monitoring of the Giuseppe Meazza stadium. He earned his PhD with honors in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in 2022, with a thesis titled "Development of Automatic Unsupervised Damage Detection Algorithms for Axially-Loaded Beam-Like Structures".

Starting in 2016, both before and after completing his doctorate, he worked as a research fellow in the section of Measurements, working on projects related to the development and metrological qualification of sensors based on microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) for structural monitoring applications, as well as the development of data analysis techniques for structural health monitoring of high-rise buildings, such as the Palazzo Regione Lombardia skyscraper in Milan.

His main research activities focus on the analysis of measurement systems for structural health monitoring, with a particular emphasis on data-driven techniques for vibration-based damage detection, and human-structure interaction. Other research activities concern vibration control with smart materials, dynamic testing for noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) applications, and measurements in the field of cultural heritage. He is the author of various publications in scientific journals and international conference proceedings, as well as two book chapters.
